Why is it that a “million dollar” Content Management System has no more functionality and looks like crap compared to a back yard job designed by someone I know in their spare time???

    Hey Damien,

The Web software the church has approved is a modified version of the Open Source (as in free) software Joomla.

Joomla is distributed with basic functionality and it can be made more useful by adding modules, and themes. For whatever reasons, the church software has limited these aspects of the software, in that you cannot install modules or themes other than what they provide, at least not in an easy way (if at all?).

I have used Joomla before and in many ways it is an overkill, IMHO, for the needs that most churches have.
